These terms cover using the Stop That app for iPhone, an auto-renewing App Store subscription that uses Apple’s Screen Time controls to heckle and then shield the apps you choose. By installing or using the app, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the app. They work alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how your data is handled.
Who we are
Stop That is provided by Daniel Keen, trading as Stop That, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom (“we”, “us”). Reach us at [email protected].
The app and your license
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use Stop That on iPhones you own or control, signed in with your Apple ID, for your own personal use. You agree not to:
- Use the app on anyone else’s device or to monitor another person.
- Resell, sublicense, rent, or redistribute the app.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code, except where that restriction is prohibited by law.
- Remove or alter any proprietary notices.
Subscriptions and billing
Stop That is sold as an auto-renewing subscription through Apple’s App Store, using Apple’s In-App Purchase. Because Apple is the seller of record, your purchase is also subject to Apple’s standard terms and the Apple Media Services / EULA that apply to App Store purchases.
Plans and price. Two plans are offered: $7.99 per week or $49.99 per year. There is no free trial. Prices are shown in the app before you buy. They differ by region and currency, and are subject to change for future billing periods (Apple will tell you before any price increase takes effect).
Billing and auto-renewal. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. The subscription automatically renews at the same price for the same period unless you turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple ID is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
Managing and cancelling. You manage or cancel the subscription in your device’s Settings: tap your name, then Subscriptions (Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions). Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for. Uninstalling the app does not cancel the subscription.
Restore. If you reinstall the app or move to a new iPhone signed in with the same Apple ID, use Restore Purchases in the app to re-activate an existing subscription.
Refunds. The subscription is sold and billed by Apple, so all refunds are handled by Apple under its standard policy, not by us. Request one through Apple (reportaproblem.apple.com) or your App Store account.
If your subscription lapses. When a subscription ends or is not renewed, Stop That stops enforcing shields. It never leaves your phone locked down because a payment did not go through. One tap of Stop Everything in the app also lifts all shields and stops all monitoring at any time.
Acceptable use
Stop That is a tool for shielding your own apps on your own device. You choose which apps to block and lift every shield yourself at any time. Do not use the app to restrict, monitor, or control anyone else’s device or behaviour. It is not a parental-control or surveillance product, and it is not built for that.
No guarantee: provided “as is”
Stop That is a tool to help you change a habit. It is not a guarantee of any outcome and is not professional, medical, clinical, or mental-health advice or treatment. Its heckling and shielding rely on Apple’s Screen Time framework, so its exact behaviour depends on iOS and on Apple’s systems, which are outside our control. The app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law, including any implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid for it in the twelve months before the claim.
Changes to these terms
We reserve the right to update these terms as the app evolves. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date above. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without regard to their conflict-of-law rules. Nothing here removes any statutory consumer rights you have under the law of your country of residence, and your App Store purchase remains subject to Apple’s terms.
